Guys, I’m really sorry for the two day absence. I’ve been super busy putting the finishing touches on the line up of YouTube videos that are set to go up in February and I’ve been breaking my back over getting these pages of Desserts finished too. Those things have been my main focus but I have a ton of other daily tasks I have to take care of in addition to my artistic endeavors if you will. Blogging has just slipped my mind these past two days. And I’ve realized that blogging daily has caused some of my posts to be very lack luster and boring due to being in a rush to just get the daily post over with, lack of inspiration, and nothing new to write about every day. So that said...I’m not quitting! I’m simply changing the blog schedule to once a week. So for now on there will be new post on this blog every Tuesday! I’m happy with this decision because I think it will improve the quality of my posts by giving me more time to accumulate interesting news throughout my week before I share a post. And it’ll free up more time in my days. I don’t feel like I’m giving up on the previous goal, because I have that goal my best try but it just didn’t work to my advantage. So by trying, learning and adapting things to fit and function better for me, more progress can be made in the long run! Also, I’m doing whatever I can to earn money on a daily basis. And even though I don’t yet have a regular job, I’ve found a few legitimate ways to make cash. I’m planning to make a YouTube video about this specifically for artists because it’s helped me a lot because I’m able to buy new sketch book and pens, and I’m currently following a daily saving goal so I’ll be able to buy a new laptop and drawing tablet before summer even comes around. So yea, since my channel is art focused I really wanna share these ways I’ve made money and been able to set target daily income goals even without a job because it could be really beneficial to a lot of people. I sure wish someone had told me about these money makers earlier! Anyways, Desserts chapter #1 will be shared here and on a variety of webcomic hosting sites(the ones linked under the blog header) on February 15. And videos on the Margoat YouTube channel will officially start being uploaded every Tuesday on February 12. I still have to figure out what time of day will be best to upload videos but I guess that'll be easy to figure out once I have somewhat of an audience. I plan to make a poll for what time my viewers would like best. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Another thing, I should be getting my laptop and drawing tablet in late April~May, so I’ve been thinking about whether I should start taking commissions again after they arrive in the mail. I’ve already received some request from people but I turned them down because I don’t have my equipment yet. It could be a good way to earn more cash but, from past experiences doing commissions, I realize that it could put more pressure on me and my time. I guess I shouldn’t worry about that bridge until I cross it either. But I’m such a worry wart and meticulous planner it’s difficult for me to not be over thinking. That’s it for today. It was 11:32pm when I wrote this:
Just got finished inking all of part 1&2 of desserts. I'm not really super tired but my hands kinda hurt. So tomorrow I'm gonna get my dad to scan them for me at his studio so I can start adding lettering. I'm going to dedicate one week to shooting and editing these YouTube videos I've been putting off. I'm not going to put an exact date on it but I want to have them ready to upload some time after Desserts is posted online. I've written up all my video content ideas and will be spending more time on those for a while as I put text into Desserts. I'm determined to be more active on the YouTube this year.
Lately I've been hitting myself in the head because I could really get more done in the day if I woke up earlier but I constantly stay up too late working to even wake up on time. I deeply wish I could train myself to be one of those people who can go to bed late and still wake up early. Literally all of my problems would be solved!
Anyways, just wanted to leave a little update!

 I have been so busy, but trying to still make time to blog. On top of everything, I have been trying to do surveys online to make enough money to buy a new set of inking pens so I will be able to finish inking the rest of my webcomic in time. It's been a bit stressful but keeping my head up.

I think I'm coming close to the point where I am over working myself a bit. I am trying my hardest to focus on self care and still get enough done to meet my deadline for the webcomic. Whenever I work myself like this I tend to dig myself into a self neglecting ditch. I stayed up until 2:30 am last night writing up ideas and series for my YouTube channel. I want to start recording the content as soon as possible and have it ready to upload a week before I release Desserts. *sign* I'm not gonna be a disappointment to my 8 loyal readers though, I promise y'all that.

Man....I can not wait for summer!! Uuhg..I’m just at that point where I’m fed up with cold weather. 

Anyways, today’s the day! I have 50+ pages of inking to do so far, yaaaay! Honestly though I don’t even think my poor pigma micron is gonna make it through all this work...I might have to steal my little brother’s pen (lol). 

Side Note: Say “hi” in the comments if you read this! I can see my posts are getting more views but like where da comments at? I’m down to chat! Like have you ever been in a group chat and there’s that one person who you can clearly see is reading all the messages but still they say nothing in the chat! That’s the vibe I’m feeling here and I just want some friends to talk about weird shit with. Whaa! *crying*

In other news I finally put some arts on my Deviant gallery! I have some more art I want to put there but I wanna ink it first. For some reason, even though I feel like I’m pretty heavy handed when I draw, I have to ink everything before it’s scanned or it literally will not be visible! A lot of the time I like the way my bare sketches look but I know if I don’t ink it before scanning it won’t even be visible. I wonder if there’s a hack to fix this little dilemma..hmm. 

Anyways, I felt silly for not having any deviations on there yet so I just threw some on there. 

My regular freehand drawings are pretty sci-fi/fantasy/goth when I’m not just doing it for comic making purposes, so that’s gonna be a reoccurring theme in my Deviant gallery. I’m gonna try to keep it simple. 

Fun fact, I drew up tattoos for a few friends before. I wish I could share those drawings now but I gave them the original artwork. But the funny part is I don’t think any of them actually got them tattooed on permanently, not because they didn’t like them, we were all just really broke! Aah good times. I’m still broke.

I haven’t finished ‘Fire & Blood’ by George R. R. Martin, sadly. I’m so close to the end but haven’t been very motivated to finish it because of all the drawing I’d rather spend time on. 

And it’s due back to the library pretty soon. *sigh* I don’t really care though lol. 

On my phone I’m reading another book by Tim Ferriss called ‘Tools of Titans’. It’s really great for inspiration and has tons of other book recommendations throughout it. So I just got two new books that were recommended in ‘Tools of Titans’ that I can’t wait to read now! It never ends. But I mean that in a good way, I just have to plan out my time better so I can get all my work on Desserts done in time and still have time to read. The E-reader app I use has a thing where it can have Siri read the book to you so I usually just listen to the books while I draw. It sounds kinda robotic and weird having Siri read shit but it’s a life hack!

Whenever any of my family members bring up the fact that it’s 2019, I always say “Bobby Shmurda gets out 2020!” Non of them know what the heck I’m talking about and it’s pretty funny fo me. 

Anyways, I’ve been on the lookout for interesting webcomics to read. One thing that happened, when I was looking for sites to post my comic on, was that I started reading a few that I came across! It really is such a amazing and diverse world of cartoonists and creators out there! 

My younger brother has an ongoing manga of his own he works on daily. He’s probably 10x more productive than I am! He posts another chapter on his Facebook page almost every week. 

I’m really quite lazy and often can’t get more than 3 pages done in a day unless I really feel like it. And the way my brain is set up, doing each panel on a 4x6 page of its own makes drawing out my written story more manageable for me. I used to do regular comic pages with a bunch of panels on em’, but a lot of the time if I had to take a break from a page that was half finished—it would never get finished! So I guess the downscaling to one panel per page, and using a smaller canvas, makes each panel feel more complete. Also, every time I come back to work on my comic it’s a fresh new start on a blank page! I love drawing regardless but this little tweak made it so much more enjoyable for me when it comes to comics particularly. 

But more than anything I love reading comics! I’ll read anything as long as the story is good but I’d say favorites are mostly fantasy or slice-of-life genres. So yea I’ve been getting into a few I found interesting. I think it’s nice to have something to contribute to the webcomic world, but when becomes a matter of doing only what’s beneficial to ones own personal motives it can get boring! So in between working on my own comics, I allow myself to get a little side tracked, to sit back and really read what everyone else has shared and strike up a convo with other creators. 

 BTW, last night I made this fuckery. 

Smh...I question my own sanity sometimes.

I’ve been putting off self care a lot lately. Yesterday I took a moment to really pamper myself and reflect on how I’ve been feeling about myself. I can become so  obsessed with being productive that I punish myself for not doing more. I can carry my depression around like a kind of dead spirit and use my goals and work  to completely ignore it. But the underlying effects it has on me still pile up until I eventually have to give in. Besides all the great stuff I want to accomplish I think that working on this bad habit through out the year will be the most beneficial for me overall. 

It’s official a new year and time to fully commit to this blog! Not that I haven’t already been committed. But I was holding back a bit for the new year, and now it just seems fair that I warn any readers who have stayed tuned into MARGOAT, that as of now I will be going full throttle non stop with the daily posts. I have accumulated a ton of fun things I’m excited to finally be able to share! I will be sharing some videos and other things about how I wrote, edit and draw DESSERTS. And also I will be sharing tons more art, and day to day events and activities! I spent all day cleaning out my phone yesterday, LOL! I’ve organized things in my Google drive to make mundane life so much easier and now I’m feeling super pumped to get this show on the road! Thanks to anyone who continues to read MARGOAT!
